Project # 16

  1. I like the use of the green screen in your video. It added a cool effect! There are some positive pieces of advice which I liked as well. The video has a lot of potential.
However, I don't feel like this video would be very encouraging to new EDM 310 students. It's a shame the majority of your final project is an assortment of complaints. I personally would not have included some of the bits of people talking negatively about the class, professors, and lab assistants. How is that helpful to future students? It sets their minds to dislike the class before they've even began. Also, it is simply rude and does not send a good message about you or your partner.

    1. I respectfully disagree. The point of our video is to present the watcher with some of the complaints that the students have had and then show those same students giving positive feed back about the things which they liked. Our hope is that students will watch the video and see that even though we did have complaints we really did like and try to seek out ways to inspire ourselves to do things that even we don't like. I said in the video that I would not want to take EDM 310 again but I hope that this does not send the message that EDM 310 is a horrible experience. I wanted to push the idea that this class is to be a trail by fire. It is challenging but it is worth it. We also asked all of our interview candidates to speak freely and openly about both what they did and did not like. This is why we named the video "Overcoming EDM 310"(which it has been changed to in YouTube via your comment and thank you for bringing this to our attention), to show all the good and the bad involved in the class. I apologize that you feel it is rude and I hope that everyone who watches this video is not daunted by its content, but our intent was to show both challenge and triumph.
